Lone Tree

In January, we took a drive through farm country north of Halifax. Here the rolling countryside gives wide sweeping vistas. The day was stormy with a mix of rain and snow. Fields were bare with patches of snow and ice. The clouds were dramatic. On top of a hill, stood this lone tree, with magnificent views in 360 degrees. I noticed the dark storm clouds just above the tree. This solitary tree, stands through four seasons, looking out across the distant hills. I have no idea why someone would have left this tree in the field, but, I am grateful they did! The tree can represent many things to many people. To me, it represents strength and resilience. It will be standing alone on this hilltop long after I am gone.
