Scott Manor House is a registered historic property built around 1770, making it one of the oldest residences in the Halifax region of Nova Scotia. The Fort Sackville Foundation has hosted art shows in the past, including that of "Group of Seven" artist, Arthur Lismer. Lismer lived about 1-2 km away from here between about 1916-1919.

This is early Spring. We finally feel the warmth on our backs. While painting, a group of young ladies set up a croquet field in front of me. Such was the day -- a day to enjoy the outdoors. I purposefully chose to cut the historic building to contrast it with the condominiums seen in the background. Loose, flat, simple brushstrokes were used to suggest tree branches in the "pre-leaf" stage.
