One Sunday morning in September, we went painting along the Halifax Harbour near the Woodside Ferry. Here, we found several Pilot Boats tied up at the docks. We did our sketches of the boats and when I was half way through the painting, three left the dock to assist a ship into the harbour. The Pilot Boats returned about ten minutes before I finished. It was a very good thing I had enough information in my sketch and early painting to continue. Also very good that the boats returned so I could pick up details.
