Musquodoboit Reflections

Here we waited beside the Musquodoboit River near Meaghers Grant, Nova Scotia, while our son and grandchildren canoed from about 10 km upstream. At this location the Wyse Road bridge was down. A police officer from across the river told us the bridge had been taken down about nine months ago due to its deteriorating condition.This was the perfect time and spot to paint. A couple of light, scattered rain showers forced us to pack up early. Our canoeists were not so lucky we were told. They paddled under a brief but heavy rainfall.

I'm not used to painting strictly landscapes as I seem to crave something of the built environment, even if it is just a few fence posts. But this was a good experience in observing large shapes and patterns.
