Hubbards Sailing School

After painting in the fog this morning, we travelled a few kilometres to the Hubbards Sailing School. The wind had picked up and youngsters were about to try their hand at sailing in "pram" sailboats. I love the laughter and joyous squeals of children. The school building has an interesting octagonal-shaped footprint. This was our first visit to this Nova Scotia cove and we will definitely return. By the way, while painting, a sea otter bounded in front of me, across the cobble shore and barely two metres away (keeping its required COVID distance).

The biggest treat was to paint alongside the award-winning plein air watercolour painter, Poppy Balser. How lucky we are to share our tales and talk art -- brushes, paints, GatorBoard, other artists, events, and so on. Poppy is so talented, down-to-earth and kindhearted.

Sometimes landscapes and seascapes impact you so that you want to take it ALL in, and you know that you cannot do the scene full justice. I picked the moored "prams", the walkways to the boats, the clubhouse and the future sailors throughout the scene enjoying the day.
