A fine day in early June, and I went out to paint lupines. In Nova Scotia, the fields, roadsides, gardens, are filled with these beautiful spiked flowers in pinks, blues and purples. It is a sure sign that spring is in full swing. For the past few years, a friend of mine and I go harvesting lupine seeds in July, and take the seeds and sew them on slopes and barren ground near where we live. They have taken off, and we now have a couple of hillsides covered with them!
